Carry small cash or tissue when using public toilets, because many roadside and market facilities are basic, may charge a small fee, and often do not provide paper. In homes and some guesthouses, a squat toilet or a simple pit latrine is still common, so it helps to be prepared for minimal facilities and to ask before assuming a Western-style bathroom.
