Carrying reusable bags, bottles, and containers is the norm in Rwanda, and visitors are expected to avoid single-use plastic whenever possible. This reflects the country’s strong environmental culture, reinforced by the monthly community clean-up day known as Umuganda and the nationwide ban on plastic bags.
