Social Hierarchy Etiquette in Cameroon

In Cameroon, social hierarchy is usually respected through formal greetings, using titles, and deferring to elders, chiefs, and people in positions of authority before getting to business. In many communities, especially in the north and in traditional settings, the authority of a chief or local notable is still taken seriously, so interrupting, speaking too directly, or skipping proper introductions can be seen as rude.
