Gender Norms Etiquette in Cameroon

Public life in Cameroon is still fairly traditional, so men are often expected to take the lead in conversation, business, and family decisions, while women may be treated more conservatively in mixed company. In cities you will see more flexibility, but in rural areas and at formal gatherings it is wise to be especially respectful of elders and avoid assuming women will be addressed or included in the same way as men.
