Gift Giving Etiquette in Cameroon

Bring a small, thoughtful gift when visiting someone’s home, especially for a first visit or a family occasion, and present it with both hands or with a few polite words rather than casually handing it over. Gifts are often opened later in private, and in some communities food, drinks, or practical items are appreciated more than flashy presents because hospitality and respect matter more than the value of the gift.
