Smoking Etiquette in Peru

Smoking is generally allowed in many outdoor and some designated indoor areas, but you should expect restrictions in restaurants, bars, public transport, and government buildings, so look for posted no-smoking signs before lighting up. In Peru, people are usually polite but not especially tolerant of smoke drifting into shared spaces, and in smaller towns or family settings it is best to ask first and step away from the group.
