People in Peru generally stand and sit closer than many North Americans or Northern Europeans, so a bit of crowding in conversation, queues, and public transport is normal rather than rude. Friends and acquaintances often greet with a handshake, a cheek kiss, or a brief hug, and in busy urban areas you should expect less physical distance than you might be used to.
