Recycling Etiquette in Mongolia

Recycling is still limited in most of Mongolia, so travelers should not expect the kind of sorted curbside collection common in many countries and should look for separate bins only in larger hotels, malls, or some offices in Ulaanbaatar. In everyday life, waste is often mixed together, and in the countryside or ger districts people may burn or dispose of trash informally, so it helps to carry recyclables until you find a proper drop-off point.
