Alcohol Etiquette in Mongolia

Alcohol is widely accepted in social settings, especially vodka and beer, but it is polite to accept a first offer only if you intend to drink and to pace yourself because hosts may keep refilling your glass. In rural or family contexts, heavy drinking is frowned on, and during traditional gatherings such as a naadam celebration or a meal with airag, it is better to follow the host’s lead and drink modestly.
