Smoking Etiquette in Vietnam

Smoking is still fairly common in Vietnam, especially among men in cafés, street-side eateries, and social gatherings, so a traveler may see it more openly than in many Western countries. It is polite to ask before lighting up near others, avoid smoking in enclosed or family spaces, and follow no-smoking signs in newer restaurants, malls, airports, and public transport.
