Physical Touch Etiquette in Vietnam

Physical touch is usually kept modest in public in Vietnam, so avoid casual hugging, back-slapping, or prolonged touching unless you know someone well. Among friends and family, same-sex hand-holding or a light arm around the shoulder can be seen in close relationships, but public displays of affection between couples are still generally restrained, especially outside big cities.
