Recycling is still uneven in Vietnam, so travelers should not assume separate bins or a formal sorting system will be available everywhere; in many places, waste is simply mixed unless a hotel, mall, or modern café has clearly labeled containers. In cities, informal waste pickers and scrap buyers play a major role in recovering bottles, cans, cardboard, and metal, so if you want to recycle, hand items to staff or place them in the marked bin rather than leaving them beside the trash.
