Public displays of affection are usually kept very modest in Vietnam, so holding hands is generally fine but kissing, hugging, or lingering touch in public can draw uncomfortable attention, especially outside big cities. Younger people in urban areas may be more relaxed, but in temples, family settings, and conservative neighborhoods it is best to stay discreet and follow the more reserved local style.
