Recycling Etiquette in Sri Lanka

Recycling is not yet a strong everyday habit in most of Sri Lanka, so travelers should not assume that homes, shops, or public places will have clearly separated bins for paper, plastic, glass, and food waste. In Colombo and some tourist areas you may see informal collection of bottles and cans, but the practical norm is to carry your rubbish until you find a bin and to sort waste only if a hotel or business has set up a specific system.
