Punctuality Etiquette in Sri Lanka

Being a little late is often tolerated in Sri Lanka, especially for social visits, family gatherings, and informal meetings, so a 10–30 minute delay usually does not cause offense. For business, official appointments, and transport connections, however, it is still best to arrive on time because schedules can be flexible but people expect foreigners to show respect by being prompt.
