Personal Space Etiquette in Sri Lanka

People in Sri Lanka are generally comfortable standing and sitting fairly close, so a bit less personal space than many Western visitors expect is normal in queues, shops, buses, and conversations. In crowded places, especially on public transport or at markets, physical proximity is routine and not usually read as rude, though people still avoid obvious pushing or prolonged touching with strangers.
