Bargaining Etiquette in Portugal

Bargaining is generally not expected in Portugal in shops, restaurants, taxis, or most services, where prices are usually fixed and haggling can feel out of place. The main exceptions are flea markets, antiques, and some small independent stalls or touristy souvenir stands, where a polite, light negotiation may be accepted if done with a smile and without pushing too hard.
