Alcohol is widely accepted in Portugal, and it is normal to have
wine,
beer, or a small spirit with meals or in social settings without much fuss. Public drunkenness is frowned on, though, and in traditional
taverns and cafés people tend to drink moderately and keep the atmosphere relaxed rather than rowdy.
