Social Hierarchy Etiquette in Poland

Polish social hierarchy is usually expressed through formal respect, especially toward older people, teachers, bosses, and anyone in an official role, so using titles and surnames until invited to switch to first names is the safe norm. In everyday life the hierarchy is not rigidly feudal, but age and position still matter in speech and behavior, and people often expect a polite, reserved tone rather than overly casual familiarity at first.
