Public displays of affection are usually kept modest in Poland, so holding hands or a quick kiss is fine, but prolonged hugging, heavy petting, or loud flirtation in public can draw disapproving looks. The norm is more relaxed in big cities and among younger people, yet in smaller towns, family settings, and formal places people tend to be noticeably more reserved.
