In public, Poles generally value calm, orderly behavior: keep your voice down on public transport, avoid loud phone calls, and do not expect strangers to strike up conversation unless there is a clear reason. In more formal settings and older social circles, a reserved manner is appreciated, while in churches and memorial sites people dress modestly and behave quietly out of respect.
