Swearing Etiquette in North Korea

Swearing is best avoided in public, especially in front of strangers, officials, or older people, because coarse language can be taken as disrespectful and draw unwanted attention. In everyday conversation people tend to use restrained, formal speech, and even joking insults are uncommon outside very close private circles.
