Personal Space Etiquette in North Korea

Personal space is generally tighter and more public than many visitors expect, especially on buses, trains, markets, and in crowded urban settings, so brief physical proximity is normal and not usually treated as rude. At the same time, people tend to be reserved with strangers, so avoid unnecessary touching, lingering eye contact, or standing too close when speaking unless the situation is crowded and clearly requires it.
