Recycling is not yet a strong everyday habit in Iraq, so travelers should not expect the kind of separate household sorting or curbside collection common in many other countries. In cities, waste is usually mixed and handled informally or by municipal services, though some neighborhoods, shops, and NGOs may have limited recycling efforts for plastics, metal, or cardboard.
