Smoking Etiquette in Costa Rica

Smoking is generally restricted to designated outdoor areas, and you should not smoke in enclosed public places, workplaces, restaurants, bars, or on public transport. Costa Ricans tend to be relaxed in social settings, but the country’s tobacco rules are enforced enough that it is best to look for a clearly marked smoking area before lighting up.
