Punctuality Etiquette in Costa Rica

Being a little late is usually acceptable in Costa Rica, especially for social plans, and many people treat a 15–30 minute delay as normal rather than rude. For business meetings and formal appointments, though, it is still best to arrive on time because the relaxed attitude known as "hora tica" is more about flexibility than ignoring commitments.
