Tipping Etiquette in Chile

Tipping in Chile is modest and usually optional: in restaurants, a 10% service charge is commonly suggested on the bill, and many people leave that amount if service was good. In taxis, bars, and everyday small purchases, rounding up or leaving a little extra is appreciated but not expected, and you generally do not need to tip as generously as in North America.
