Dress is generally casual and practical in Chilean cities, but people tend to look neat and avoid overly revealing clothes unless they are at the beach or a very informal setting. In more formal workplaces, restaurants, and family gatherings, Chileans usually dress conservatively and smartly, and in the south or in the mountains it is common to layer up because weather can change quickly.
