Gender Norms Etiquette in Chile

Chile is fairly conservative in everyday gender expectations, so travelers will notice that men often take the lead in formal interactions and women may still be greeted with more deference in older or traditional settings. In cities the norm is much more mixed, but in family or social gatherings it is still common to see traditional roles around hosting, paying, and public displays of affection, especially outside younger urban circles.
