Physical Touch Etiquette in Brazil

Physical touch is common in Brazil: friends and acquaintances often greet with a kiss on the cheek, a hug, or a light touch on the arm, and standing too far away can feel cold or unfriendly. In more formal settings people still keep some distance, but warm, expressive contact is normal once rapport is established, especially in social gatherings and among women.
