Bargaining is normal in Thailand at street markets, night markets, and with
tuk-tuk drivers, but it should be done lightly and with a smile rather than aggressively. Fixed prices are more common in malls, convenience stores, and restaurants, and in tourist areas a polite counteroffer is usually expected only for souvenirs, clothing, or transport fares.
