Swearing Etiquette in Oman

Swearing in public is strongly frowned upon in Oman, and using obscene or insulting language can quickly be seen as disrespectful or even provoke legal trouble. In everyday conversation people tend to keep speech restrained and polite, especially around elders, officials, and in mixed company, so even joking profanity is best avoided.
