Public Behavior Etiquette in Mexico

In public, Mexicans generally value polite, warm behavior: greet people with a handshake, a nod, or a light cheek kiss among acquaintances, keep your voice moderate, and avoid overtly aggressive displays or loud arguments. In more formal or traditional settings, showing respect to elders and authority matters, and in religious places or family gatherings people tend to dress and act more conservatively than they might on the street.
