Personal Space Etiquette in Mexico

Personal space is usually smaller in Mexico than in more reserved cultures, so people often stand closer, touch an arm or shoulder while talking, and may greet with a handshake, hug, or cheek kiss depending on familiarity. In crowded places and family settings this closeness is normal and friendly, but stepping back too much can read as cold or unfriendly.
