Dining Etiquette in Mexico

Meals are usually social and unhurried, so wait to be seated or invited to start, keep your hands visible on the table, and expect lunch to be the main meal of the day rather than a quick bite. In more traditional settings, it is polite to say buen provecho before eating, and in family homes or at a taquería it is normal to share dishes, linger over conversation, and accept a second helping if offered.
