Physical Touch Etiquette in Mexico

Physical touch is fairly common in Mexico among friends and family, so a handshake, brief hug, or cheek kiss may be normal once people are comfortable, while more reserved behavior is expected with strangers or in formal settings. Men often greet women and close acquaintances with a light kiss on the cheek or a hug, and standing too far away can feel cold, but always let the other person set the level of contact.
