Avoid loud, boastful behavior, public drunkenness, and making jokes about the
1956 uprising, the
1848 revolution, or the
Trianon Treaty, which are still emotionally sensitive topics for many Hungarians. It is also considered rude to criticize the country’s food or language casually, and in formal settings people tend to be reserved rather than openly confrontational.
