People in Hungary usually keep a moderate amount of personal space and prefer a polite but not overly familiar distance in conversation, especially with strangers or in formal settings. On public transport, in shops, and in queues, close proximity is normal when space is limited, but unnecessary touching, loud familiarity, or standing too close without a reason can feel intrusive.
