Gender Norms Etiquette in Hungary

Hungary is fairly gender-equal in public life, so travelers will see women and men working, dining, and traveling independently, and it is normal to address women directly and professionally rather than assuming traditional roles. Older generations may still appreciate small courtesies such as holding doors or offering a seat, but overtly old-fashioned chivalry or comments about family roles can feel dated, especially in Budapest and among younger people.
