Tipping Etiquette in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Tipping is not expected in most everyday situations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but in hotels, restaurants, and for drivers or porters, a small extra amount is appreciated if the service was good. In Kinshasa and other larger cities, some upscale places may add a service charge or cater to international visitors, so it is best to check the bill and tip modestly rather than assume a fixed percentage.
