Tipping Etiquette in China

Tipping is generally not expected in China and can even feel awkward in everyday settings, so in restaurants, taxis, salons, and hotels you usually just pay the stated price. The main exceptions are some high-end hotels, tour guides, or services aimed at foreign visitors, where a small tip may be accepted, but it is still not a routine local custom.
