Punctuality Etiquette in China

Arrive on time for business meetings, appointments, and formal events in China, because punctuality is generally expected and being late can be read as disrespectful or poorly organized. In social settings there is a bit more flexibility, but for dinners, trains, and group plans people still try to be prompt, and it is polite to message ahead if you are delayed.
