Gender Norms Etiquette in Zambia

In Zambia, public behavior is generally conservative, so travelers should avoid overly flirtatious conduct, public displays of affection, or joking that could be read as disrespectful toward women or men. In many communities, especially outside major cities, gender roles remain fairly traditional and elders may expect men to lead formal interactions while women are often addressed with extra politeness and modest dress is appreciated.
