Swearing Etiquette in Uruguay

Swearing is fairly common in casual conversation in Uruguay, especially among friends, and strong language is often used more as emphasis or humor than as a serious insult. In public or with strangers, though, people still expect you to keep it toned down, since the local style is relaxed but not aggressively rude.
