Punctuality Etiquette in Uruguay

Being a little late is usually acceptable in Uruguay for social plans, and arriving 10 to 20 minutes after the stated time is often seen as normal rather than rude. For business, appointments, and formal events people are expected to be closer to on time, but the everyday pace is relaxed and many gatherings start only after everyone has arrived.
