Gender Norms Etiquette in Turkmenistan

Public life is still fairly traditional, so men and women often dress modestly and behave conservatively in mixed company, especially outside Ashgabat and in family settings. Women may be expected to avoid overly direct behavior with unfamiliar men, while men are usually the ones who lead conversations, host guests, and handle public-facing interactions in more formal or rural settings.
