Clothing Etiquette in Malawi

Dress modestly and neatly, especially in towns, markets, churches, and government offices; women are generally expected to avoid very short skirts, low-cut tops, or revealing outfits, and men usually wear shirts rather than going bare-chested in public. In rural areas and around older people, conservative clothing is even more important, while beachwear is best kept to lakeside or resort settings rather than worn through villages or town centers.
