Titles & Address Etiquette in India

Use honorifics and surnames until invited to do otherwise, and address older people or professionals as Mr., Ms., Dr., or by their title plus first name if that is how they introduce themselves. In many settings people also use respectful forms like Sir, Madam, or ji, and in Hindi-speaking areas ji is often added after a name to show politeness.
