Tipping Etiquette in India

Tipping is appreciated in India but is usually modest and situation-dependent: in restaurants, a small amount of around 5–10% is common if service charge is not already included, while hotel porters, drivers, and guides often receive a few extra rupees for good service. In many places, especially casual eateries and taxis, rounding up the bill is enough, and some upscale restaurants add a service charge automatically, so check the receipt before leaving extra cash.
