LGBTQ Etiquette in Haiti

Public LGBTQ expression is generally kept very discreet in Haiti, especially outside Port-au-Prince, because many people are socially conservative and same-sex relationships can draw gossip, harassment, or family pressure. In urban circles there is a small visible community and some advocacy, but travelers should not assume open displays of affection or casual discussion will be received as they might be in more liberal destinations.
